Version 2.1, effective October 19, 2026

This page explains what the content on goldblockworkshop.com, published by GoldBlock Workshop, LLC, is and is not. It is written to be read, so the short version comes first. The rest of the page says the same things in more detail, subject by subject.

The short version

  1. GoldBlock Workshop teaches you to understand a subject well enough to hire the right professional, judge the work, work safely alongside one, or train to become one. We do not teach you to do licensed work yourself.
  2. Nothing here is medical, financial, legal, tax or licensed-trade advice, and reading it creates no relationship with us. We are not doctors, dietitians, financial advisers, lawyers or licensed contractors, and we hold no professional licenses.
  3. Some of what we cover can kill or seriously injure people when done wrong: electricity, generators and fuel, carbon monoxide, pressure canning, untreated water, firearms, wild plants and mushrooms. Our pages name those hazards where they occur. If you do not fully understand a task, hire someone who does.
  4. If this is an emergency, call 911. For a poisoning, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 (United States).
  5. We can be wrong or out of date. Every article and review shows its sources and its dates. If you find an error, email hello@goldblockworkshop.com and we will check it against the source.
  6. We may earn commissions on links marked "Paid link." A commission never changes which products appear or how they rank. Our reviews say exactly what we did with a product and cite our sources; we run no laboratory tests and we do not certify or guarantee any product.
  7. We use AI tools to research, draft and check. Every article lists its sources and is checked against them, and GoldBlock Workshop reviews every page before it is published. We do our best and we can still miss things, so if you find an error, tell us and we will check it.

1. What this site is and is not

GoldBlock Workshop is an independent educational publisher. Our purpose is to prepare you to understand a subject, hire the right professional for it, or become one. Explaining how something works, why it fails and what the rules are is education. Doing licensed work for you, or telling you how to do it in your own home, is not what we do.

Everything we publish is general. It is written for a wide audience, not for you, your house, your body, your money or your situation. We do not answer individual questions about your own wiring, water test, symptoms, portfolio or project. Reading our pages, emailing us or leaving a comment does not create a doctor-patient, adviser-client, attorney-client or contractor-customer relationship.

GoldBlock Workshop, LLC and its founders hold no professional licenses. We are not licensed contractors, electricians, plumbers, well contractors, physicians, dietitians, financial advisers, broker-dealers or attorneys. One founder works in the water-well drilling trade under a licensed operator; that is field experience, not a license, and it is described exactly that way wherever it appears.

2. Health, fitness, nutrition and supplements

Our health content is education, not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Supplements are not evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for safety or effectiveness the way medicines are, and they can interact with medications and conditions. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication or managing a condition, talk to your clinician before changing what you take, eat or do. Fitness content can injure you if your body is not ready for it; start below your limits. If you have symptoms that worry you, see a professional; if it is an emergency, call 911.

3. Money, investing and crypto

Our money content is impersonal education, published for a general audience and not timed to any market event. It is not individual investment, tax or legal advice, and we are not registered investment advisers, broker-dealers or tax professionals. Markets fall as well as rise, and investments, including crypto assets, can lose all of their value. Where an author holds a position in something an article discusses, the article says so. We accept no payment to cover, mention or promote any security, token or investment. If that ever changed, the payment would be disclosed plainly beside the mention. Decisions about your own money belong with you and, where it matters, a licensed professional.

4. Trades, home systems and preparedness

GoldBlock Workshop is not a licensed contractor and does not perform, offer, bid on or advertise construction, electrical, plumbing, pump or well work. Much of the work we describe legally requires a licensed contractor, a permit, an inspection or all three where you live. Building, electrical, plumbing and fire codes are adopted edition by edition in each state and county, often with local changes, so the edition your jurisdiction has adopted and your local inspector control, not a page on this site. Rules for work on your own property differ by place. We explain these systems so you can understand them, talk to a tradesperson as an informed owner, spot a dangerous setup, or decide to train for a license yourself.

5. Electricity, generators and fuel

Electricity can kill on contact, and a wrong connection can kill someone you never meet: feeding a generator into a house through a wall outlet or a dryer plug can send power back up the utility line and electrocute a lineworker. Generators and any engine burning fuel make carbon monoxide, a gas you cannot see or smell that can kill a sleeping household; they belong outdoors only, at least 20 feet from the house with the exhaust pointed away from it, never in a garage, basement or crawlspace, and never near windows, doors or vents (CPSC and CDC guidance). Gasoline, propane and other fuels burn and explode, and how much you may store at home is limited by fire code. Our pages explain how these systems work and how they fail. Installing them, connecting them to a building and sizing wiring and protection are jobs for a licensed electrician and your local inspector.

6. Heating, stoves and thermal mass

Wood stoves, masonry heaters, attached greenhouses and other heating and passive-solar systems can burn a house down, poison its occupants or overheat it when they are designed, built or installed wrong. We separate the physics of a system from the status of one design under codes and insurance, and we explain why installers, inspectors and insurers are cautious. None of that is permission to build or modify a heating appliance. Listed appliances must be installed to their listing and the manufacturer's instructions, by someone qualified, with a permit where required. If you do not fully understand a heating system, hire a professional who does.

7. Food, water and preservation

Home canning done wrong can cause botulism, which can be fatal. We never publish our own processing times or methods; we point you to tested procedures from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the National Center for Home Food Preservation and university extension services, and we tell you to follow them exactly. Untreated or badly treated water can carry bacteria, viruses and parasites, and it can carry chemicals such as lead, arsenic and nitrate that boiling does not remove and many filters do not remove; follow your water utility and health department first, and rely on recognized certifications for filter claims. Stored food can spoil or grow toxins. We run no laboratory tests on water, filters or food; we report what tested sources and certifiers say.

8. First aid and medical emergencies

Our first aid content explains what to prepare and when to get help. It is not first aid or CPR training, and it does not certify anyone. Take a hands-on course from the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association or an equivalent provider. In any emergency, call 911 first and follow the dispatcher. For a poisoning, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

9. Hunting, fishing, foraging and firearms

Wild food is regulated and dangerous when done carelessly. Hunting and fishing need licenses and, in many states, hunter education; your state wildlife agency's rules control. Never eat any plant, berry or mushroom you have not identified with certainty; some lookalikes are deadly and no page, photo or app can identify a specimen for you. Firearms demand training and the standard safety rules every time they are handled. Learn from experienced, qualified people in person.

10. Reviews, comparisons and products

Our reviews describe what we actually did with a product (used it, tried it hands-on, or researched it only), and cite our sources. We run no laboratory tests, we do not certify or guarantee any product, and nothing on this site is a seal of approval. Where safety matters, rely on recognized product certifications such as an NSF or UL mark, not on us. We say plainly what we did and did not do with each product on How We Review. Prices, specifications and availability change after we check them; every review shows the date we last checked it.

11. Calculators and tools

Any calculator or interactive tool we publish gives an estimate for planning, not a design, a prescription or a specification. Each tool shows its inputs, its assumptions and its math so you can check it. Verify any result with a licensed professional before acting on it, and never treat a tool's output as a substitute for a tested published source, a manufacturer's instructions or an inspector's decision. Tools that save your results or sit behind an account will ask you to accept their own terms before use.

12. AI-assisted content

We use AI tools to research, draft and check. Every article lists its sources and is checked against them, and GoldBlock Workshop reviews every page before it is published. That review is done with care and it is not perfect: a wrong number, a stale rule or a missed source can get through. Where a page's notice says it was also checked by a separate AI reviewer that did not write it, that reviewer checked the sources and the arithmetic. If you find an error, section 15 says how we correct it. Our full process is on How We Review.

13. External links and the people we credit

We link to other sites for your convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, products or practices, and a link is not an endorsement. We credit the people, institutions and researchers whose work we learn from, and we link to their own work rather than reproducing it. A credit covers the specific work we cite, not everything that person has said or done. If we have any paid or personal relationship with someone we credit, we say so beside the credit.

14. Affiliate links

Some links on this site may be affiliate links. If you buy through one, GoldBlock Workshop may earn a commission. Every such link is marked "Paid link" right beside it. Retailers set their own prices. A commission never changes which products appear or how they rank. Details, including the programs we belong to, are on our Affiliate Disclosure.

15. Errors, corrections and dates

We work to get everything right and we still make mistakes. Every article and review lists its sources and shows when it was published and last changed in substance. If you find an error, email hello@goldblockworkshop.com; we check the claim against its source and correct the page if we were wrong. Rules, prices, products and research change after we publish, so check the date before you rely on a figure.

16. Responsibility and the law

You are responsible for how you use what you read here. The limits on our responsibility, and the limits California law places on those limits, are stated once, in section 9 of our Terms & Conditions. Nothing on this page or anywhere on this site excludes responsibility that cannot be excluded under California law, including for fraud, willful injury, gross negligence or violation of law.

17. Changes to this page

This is version 2.1 of our Disclaimer, effective October 19, 2026. When we change it in substance, the version number and date at the top change, and we keep earlier versions and will send one on request.
